SWINDON Carers Centre has thanked everyone who helped to make the Bandstand Marathon at Queens Park a success.
The national event saw more than 500 major towns and cities in the UK simultaneously hold concerts in their regions.
It included music professionals and artists and raised funds for Swindon Carers Centre as well as helping to raise awareness for the Queens Park Community Council, which is keeping Queens Park’s café and entertainment space alive.
Melanie Stanbury, community fundraising chairwoman of Swindon Carers Centre, who organised the event, said: “I am passionate about Swindon.
“With Queens Park being in the heart of Swindon and knowing that the café and entertainment space was now a community project, it just seemed right to hold this historic event there.”
About 200 people were in the audience and the cafe rook more than £200, which will be reinvested into Queens Park. To donate or for more information visit www.swindoncarers.org
