Malmesbury community organisation HEALS hosted a garden party on Sunday with live music and a barbecue. Alison Cross Jones, chairman of Heals, said: “It went really well. “Lots of people came including the mayor who said he wanted to support the charities and perhaps organise another event.

“The band was great, some people came from as far as Bristol. We had 70 people at any one time but more came and went throughout the day.

“We don’t know how much we’ve raised yet because we have donations online as well, but we collected over £200 in cash on the day.”

Funds raised through donation entry and a raffle will go to both HEALS and the Young at Heart Health Foundation.

HEALS received a grant from the South West Community Foundation, some of which went towards the cost of hosting the party.

Local band Nightshift performed during the day.
