A festivalcelebrating harvests, apples and apple growing in Trowbridge has been launched by the town museum, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and the BIG Community Grow.
Centred around the old orchard in the grounds of the Courtfield House, the event will include apple juice making (bring you own apples), a talk and advice from an apple expert, and sampling and cooking apple varieties.
Other local produce will also be on sale, alongside apple-themed crafts, music and entertainment.
As well apples themselves, the festival will highlight the wildlife and livestock associated with orchards, and local schools will be invited to plot apple trees all around their area during September and bring samples along on the day.
The samples will be used to create a map showing the locations of all the town’s apple trees and orchards, in preparation for a future planting programme.
Trowbridge Apple Festival takes place on October 13 in the grounds of Courtfield House, Polebarn Road, the proposed new home for the museum.
