Wiltshire Council seeks people's views on Core Strategy changes

Wiltshire Council is holding a six-week consultation on proposed changes to the draft core strategy agreed by councillors in June.

The document sets out the county’s strategy for economic development, planning, services and housing.

In July the council submitted the strategy for independent examination by a Government-appointed inspector, who will assess it further later this year.

Cabinet member for economic development Fleur de Rhe-Philipe said: “We are nearly at the stage where an inspector will examine the strategy in public.

“As this is an evolving document drafted over a number of years we have had to update it to reflect various changes.

“We would now welcome people's views on the matters being raised through this consultation.”

The consultation will run until November 1.

What really happened was that Wiltshire Council tried to slip additional policies into the Core Strategy at the last minute without public consultation (e.g. a ban on wind turbines in the County). Luckily they got caught out by the Planning Inspector who has insisted they go back to the people. Not that this will make one iota of difference as the Wilts Planners have yet to make any significant changes following the hundreds of comments previously received!

And has been proved time and time again by Wiltshire Council, no matter what we, the common man ask or say, they the Council will do what they THINK is right for us (sorry them).

They have proven over the past 3 years with each and every consultation, our voice is ignored

I for one hope that any ban on wind turbines in the county is upheld. Well done Wilts Council.
