Paralympic Torch lights up Sainsbury's

A Paralympic Torch Relay to mark the success of this summer’s Games started at Sainsbury’s Bradford on Avon store this morning.

The torch, one of 620 torches used during the Games’ actual relay, will visit 400 Sainsbury’s stores across the country concluding the tour in Lampeter on Thursday, November 1.

After leaving the Bradford on Avon store, the relay stopped at Melksham’s branch, giving customers a chance to get a close look at the torch.

Sainsbury’s Melksham Store Manager Steve Packman said: “We’ve really enjoyed playing our part in raising awareness of the London 2012 Paralympic Games in Melksham. For our customers, it’s a once in a lifetime chance for them to see the torch and feel the buzz of the Paralympic Games, which we’re proud to have sponsored.”
