SHELLY Taunt and Julie Murphy are hoping to bounce back from their Ulster Rally disappointment when they tackle the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire this weekend.

The Highworth mums will compete in the clubman section of the event, which will see them take on the fast gravel stages of Dalby Forest and the surrounding area.

Taunt said: “We have just got the car back from a rally preparation garage after we suffered the loss of reverse gear on the Ulster Rally, which prevented us from continuing after we got stuck on a bank and couldn’t reverse off.

“Any non-finish is a real disappointment especially when you put so much hard work in to get there, but we have to put that behind us now and are concentrating on the next rally.”

Taunt and Murphy are no strangers to the event and have finished fourth, fifth and eighth overall in their last three starts, and once again are hoping for a top 10 finish.

Murphy said: “Our aim is to attack from the off on stage one. “We are up against some strong opposition and cars much more powerful than ours and many crews live local to the event, so local knowledge will be in their favour.

“But we will also use our knowledge of the area and as long as we keep out of trouble then a top-10 result should be on the cards.”

The clubman event starts on Saturday. For more information and live results visit www.shellytauntralling.com.
