Patients who have had surgery for new knees and hips at Devizes Treatment Centre are benefiting from advice given through a mobile phone app.
UK Specialist Hospitals, which runs the treatment centre in Green Lane, last week received a national award for the best use of technology at the Laing and Buisson Independent Healthcare Awards for its physiotherapy app, Pocket Physio, designed for patients undergoing major hip or knee surgery.
The app gives advice on exercises following surgery to speed the patient’s recovery with a view to getting them back on their feet as soon as possible.
UKSH provides the app on iPads for patients to use at Devizes NHS Treatment Centre. It has also been available to download free from iTunes since February.
