It's back to work after Queen honours therapy centre

LAST week, the Swindon Therapy Centre was presented with a Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
But despite its success, the fundraising and volunteering continues this week.
The centre, which provides therapy for people with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions, is calling on supporters to help raise funds through Localgiving’s £500,000 Grow Your Tenner campaign, as well as supporting collections this week and next.
The campaign, which started on Tuesday, marks the launch of the new monthly donations feature to support local charities.
Community fundraiser Laura Wilson said: “The Swindon Therapy Centre is the only centre of its kind within a 35 mile radius of Swindon.
“The centre plays an invaluable role in the community since it provides services not available through the NHS. Many doctors refer patients to the centre.
“The group’s activities are a lifeline for its many members and their families, who are actively encouraged, through mutual support, to face the reality of multiple sclerosis and the possible challenges it brings.”
Localgiving.com, a social enterprise owned by the Community Foundation Network and the Ardbrack Foundation, encourages new supporters to make a one-time or monthly donation on the website, by matching up to £10 per donation.
It has a pot of £500,000 to match donations, and will do so until the pot is gone, raising awareness and funds for charities and community groups across England.
If a supporter signs up to donate £10 a month to a cause through direct debit, Localgiving will match the first three months.
The centre asks anyone planning on attending its Fun Pool night at Swindon Snooker Club on October 27 to buy their ticket online via Localgiving, quoting reference ‘Swindon Therapy Snooker’ in the message box, and providing an email address.
Help is also needed with collections at Sainsbury’s Bridgemead tomorrow from 2pm, and Saturday from 11am, as well as a collection at Sainsbury’s Stratton on October 5 from 9am to noon and 2pm to 6pm.
