FOOTBALL: Rawlings perplexed by Corsham’s collapse

TREVOR Rawlings was at a loss to explain his side’s capitulation against Cribbs Friends Life last weekend.

Headers from Matt Jenkins and Dan King gave Corsham Town a 2-0 lead at half time.

The game was turned on its’ head in the second period as the visitors netted three times to condemn Rawlings’ men to their fourth defeat in their last five games.

“I’m not quite sure what happened – the other side got their tails up and maybe we thought that we’d won it?” said the Corsham chief.

“You could see the confidence slip away as soon as they got back into the game and we didn’t create a chance in the second half while they had three shots and scored them all.

“We’ve been in a bit of a slump in September and we need to try and get back to the form we had back in August.

“We’ve got a difficult game at Wellington this weekend because it’s the first home match for their new manager.”

Nathan Phillimore and Matt Windle are injury doubts for the trip to Wellington tomorrow but midfielder Dan Harvey could soon return from the fractured cheekbone he sustained in pre-season.
