James Bond fans in Devizes will be able to get a sneak preview of the latest 007 blockbuster the night before it is released nationwide.
Charity fundraiser Lavinia Postlethwaite, from Allington, near Devizes, has persuaded film giant Sony to let her organise a series of screenings around the country to show the latest James Bond film, Skyfall, with the proceeds going to the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID).
The Devizes screening will be held on October 25 at the Palace Cinema in the Market Place, the day before its official release. Other screenings will be held the same night at Brighton, Hereford, Hull, Portsmouth and Hatfield.
In Devizes, there are 250 seats for fans to enjoy the glitz and glamour of the much anticipated film. Before the screening there will be a reception with bubbly and canapés at Scrummylicious.
To add even more style to the event, Mrs Postlethwaite has persuaded Honda in Swindon to display the actual CRF250R motorcycle ridden by the villain’s henchman in the film.
Filmgoers will also see a Jaguar XLJ – M’s car of choice – from Grange dealership in Swindon and a Land Rover Defender, which also appears in the film, provided by T H White, outside Scrummylicious.
Mrs Postlethwaite has worked with the charity since the death of her baby daughter Phillippa in 1982.
She said: “I’m very excited about this opportunity and the response we have been getting has been tremendous.
“Some people have even said they want to dress up. It will be a great night which we hope everyone will enjoy.”
Mrs Postlethwaite is hoping the screening will help raise awareness of the FSID charity and what people can do to help prevent sudden infant deaths.
She said she is very grateful for the help that Angel Leisure, which owns the cinema, has given to the event and also to Scrummylicious, which is providing the reception venue and canapés.
Tickets are £25 and there are still some available. For further details, email Mrs Postlethwaite on firstname.lastname@example.org
