Melksham keeps ‘money-off’ parking

The parking charge redemption scheme adopting in Melksham earlier this year looks likely to be extended into 2013.
In a meeting on Monday, the Town Council’s policy and resources committee voted in favour of extending the scheme, which gives shoppers money off their parking when they spend in selected independent stores in the town.
The scheme was first introduced by the Melksham Independent Traders group, and was quickly adopted as an official policy by the council, which now offers money off parking in the King Street car park for anyone spending more than £5 in some shops.
The policy will continue for another year, and will be reassessed in 2013.
