A TEAM of runners will be pushing themselves to the limit when they take on the Swindon Half Marathon next weekend.
Reuben Smith, his wife Heather and fellow runners Sue O’Connell and Paul Salmon will take on the 13.1-mile course as part of a relay team pushing 18-year-old Ryan Vale in a special buggy.
The challenge is the first to be undertaken by RunWithMe, a group that was created by Reuben to give people with disabilities the opportunity to take part in running events.
Reuben, who lives in Swindon, was inspired to set up RunWithMe after hearing about a similar group called myTEAM TRIUMPH in America.
“I wanted to combine my love of running with helping disabled people and this seemed to be the perfect way of doing that,” he said.
“We’re aiming to complete the course in two and a half hours. For me, although Ryan is autistic, I see him as an athlete who just happens to have a disability and it will be great to compete alongside him.”

Entries for the multi-terrain and two-mile fun run can be made on the day and entries for the half marathon close at midnight on October 10 – as does online entry to the event.
