Woman punched in face in Westbury Market Place

A woman suffered a black eye, a swollen nose and lip and a bruised forehead after a man punched her in the face in Market Square, Westbury, at 1am on September 9.

The 26-year-old had been on a night out with friends when she was approached by the man, described as 5ft 9in tall, medium to stocky build and in his late 30s.

He had short dark hair and was wearing a white polo shirt with striped collar and light blue jeans.

I am what you would call "fair to middling big", played front row forward for the school first XV, and people tend to leave me alone. That said, I have rarely seen (except for street robbery/mugging) a totally unprovoked attack on a person unknown to the attacker. Usually there is a background to such attacks, even if it only took place a few hours previously.
