Youngsters at Six-penny Nursery in Devizes raised more than £223 to help children with genetic disorders when they took part in Jeans for Genes Day last Friday.
The young fundraisers at the nursery school, based at Roundway Hill Farm trading estate, all wore jeans and spent their morning making blue cakes and working with blue Play-Doh. They also sponsored nursery manager Charlotte Chirg-win in her outrageous costume which included flippers, a pink wig, shamrock hat, Hawaiian shirt and tutu.
She said: “We had a wonderful day and we are delighted to have raised so much money.”
Jeans for Genes Day raises money for Genetic Disorders UK and aims to change the world for children with genetic disorders.
Individually, genetic disorders are rare but together they affect one in 25 children born in the UK – more than 30,000 babies each year. Genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 years and under.
