PUPILS at Bishops Cannings Primary School were skipping for joy this week as they were put through their paces.
Skippy John, alias John Burns from the Swindon-based Skipping4Life fitness group, returned to the school on Tuesday to teach children, parents and staff new tricks with skipping ropes. The visit was organised by the Friends of Bishops Cannings School.
He showed them partner and double Dutch skipping, and long rope team games as part of the school’s Healthy Schools Initiative.
Skippy John, who got his nickname during BBC1’s Total Wipeout challenge, has over seven years’ experience teaching and demonstrating skipping skills in primary schools across the UK.
Acting headteacher Cather-ine Vardy said: “We’re so glad Skippy John returned to teach more team games that we can continue in playtime and PE.”
