Company director Ian Hawkes had an ambition fulfilled when he met his teenage idol on the BBC’s The One Show.

Mr Hawkes has been a fan of the Electric Light Orchestra since he was 14 and when he heard that the band’s founder, Jeff Lynne, was appearing on the programme, he took his opportunity.

Mr Hawkes, 48, of Elizabeth Drive, Devizes, said: “Jeff is promoting a couple of new albums and I thought, I’ve got to meet my hero who I have held in such high esteem for so many years.

“So I contacted The One Show and they arranged for me to come and meet him.

“I have named my company Blue Sky Computing after ELO’s big hit, Mr Blue Sky. Jeff was really interested to hear that.

“I had heard he is quite reserved, but he couldn’t have been nicer. He posed for photographs and autographed my ELO albums. He was a real delight.”

Mr Hawkes’s wife, Caroline, has two teenage children from a previous marriage. Mr Hawkes said: “They’ve had ELO music foisted on them over the years, so they’ve got to quite like it.”
