A woman has died after being trampled by cows this morning in Chippenham.

The woman was walking her dog in a field next to Black Bridge when they were both injured.

Two dog walkers found the injured woman and she told them what had happened. Unable to get a phone signal they went to Riverside Drive and the emergency services were called.

However when paramedics arrived they were unable to revive the woman and she died at the scene.

Her dog has been taken to a local vets with injuries including fractured hips.

Wiltshire police are investigating the incident which happened shortly before 9am.

Great Western Ambulance Service received a 999 call  at 8.38am. A paramedic in a car arrived at the scene at 8.46am backed up by an ambulance crew.


The first paramedic on the scene reported that the woman had gone into cardiac arrest and immediately began advanced life support.


A spokesman said: “Unfortunately, ambulance clinicians were unable to resuscitate the patient and she was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police said there were cows and calves in the feld.
