FROME Town boss Darren Perrin declared himself satisfied with a point at Banbury United but thought that the Robins could have easily come away with all three on Tuesday evening.

Wayne Blossom acrobatically gave the hosts an early lead, but Dave Thompson headed Frome level shortly before half-time.

Perrin’s men were on the front foot for most of the second period but couldn’t find a way past Banbury keeper Matt Gill, and the Frome boss said: “We dominated the game for 65 minutes and there was only ever going to be one team that could win the game.

“We had two or three great chances in the second-half, but their keeper did play well.

“It was still a good performance and I’d say that I was satisfied with it.”

On Saturday, the Robins were undone 2-1 at home by St Neots Town.

Ed Adjeyi headed the visitors in front before Lewis Powell levelled matters but Lewis Hilliard’s spectacular free-kick clinched all three points for the Cambridge-shire visitors.

“It was our best performance of the season and I’ve got no idea how we didn’t come away with all three points, let alone one,” said Perrin.

“We had great chances, hit the woodwork and were guilty of some wayward finishing and the result was a complete and utter mystery.

“But credit to the lads for responding from the Taunton debacle last week and getting our good start to the season back on track.”

Nat Auckland will be missing through work commitments when Frome travel to Hitchin Town tomorrow.

Perrin’s men also host Cirencester Town in the first round of the Red Insure Cup next Wednesday.
