Staverton School has made a large donation to a Trowbridge foodbank, thanks to pupils, staff and parents.
The school has been supporting the work of the Storehouse Foodbank in recent years.
Following a Ready, Steady, Cook assembly with the children, to highlight the work of the charity, pupils were asked to collect non-perishable food and sundries, which have now been given to the the foodbank, to help local families struggling with hunger.
Headteacher Bruce Douglas said: “We had a big, lovely table of things. The children have a very good idea of what it’s all about and I’m very proud of them for what they do. It’s wonderful to see the generosity of the families and to know it’s going to help people locally who need it.”
