SOMERSET JUNIOR CUP: Super sub Little stars in Freshford Cup win

IN THE recent past Freshford United have had a great record in the Somerset Junior Cup, winning it in 2011 when they beat Middlezoy Rovers 1-0 and reaching the semi-finals last term when with a depleted side they suffered a penalty-shoot out defeat to South Petherton.
Freshford were handed a home tie against Perry Street from the Perry Street & District League Premier Division, and Hughie Fulton’s hosts were on top form as they cruised to a 6-1 triumph.
They made the perfect start and led after just 30 seconds when Steve Roddy laid the ball to Jamie Olding who fired home a beauty to make it 1-0.
Roddy doubled Freshford’s lead with a brilliant near-post header and he made it 3-0 with another fantastic strike, after beating four players he slotted home his second of the game.
A disputed penalty saw Perry Street reduce the arrears but the spot kick was just a consolation as the host ran out easy winners thanks to three second-half goals which were all scored by super sub Rob Little.
He came on with 15 minutes left for what should have been a cameo appearance but proved to be a show steeling display as his quick-fire treble closed out what was a comfortable win for the home team.
