HAIRDRESSERS at a Swindon salon will be jumping out of a plane to raise funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer during this October’s Breast Cancer Action Month.

Three members of staff at Fazes Hair Studio, in Ermin Street, will be taking part in the tandem skydive on October 28 and are hoping to raise more than £600 for the charity.

As well as fundraising in the salon, Fazes will also be stocking special edition hair straighteners and hairdryers to raise vital funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in the UK.

Taking part in the 10,000ft jump will be stylists Sally-Anne Murphy, Amanda Roberts and Amy Hutt, after Sally-Anne came up with the idea.

Tracie Heard, from the salon, said: “We’re all really excited about fundraising in the salon and we’d encourage everyone in our local community to join in.

“More than 48,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK, so we want to do whatever we can to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s life saving research.

“I’m not taking part in the skydive but I am organising it. I think Amy is feeling ok about it but the other two are a bit up and down.

“We are all going to go along and watch for a bit of morale support.

“With the sponsorship from the skydives and through selling the breast cancer pins in our shop, we are hoping to raise more than £600 for the charity which will be great.”

Throughout the month, the Swindon Advertiser is also doing its bit for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

We will be running a special supplement in tomorrow’s edition to raise funds and awareness and we will be donating 1p from every Adver sold to the charity.
