STEPHEN Lee's suspension over suspicious betting patterns has led to the cancellation of this week's scheduled PartyPoker.com Premier League Snooker fixture in Penzance.

Lee, the world number seven from Trowbridge, has been suspended by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) pending the results of a new investigation.

The suspension came the day after Lee lost a Premier League match 4-2 to John Higgins last week, and only a week after Lee had been told he would not face criminal charges over match-fixing allegations dating back to 2010.

In a statement today, Matchroom Sport said it had taken the decision to cancel this week's fixture, in which Lee was due to play Mark Allen as part of a double-header on Thursday.

"The evening was to feature two matches in the ongoing Premier League event but due to the recent suspension of Stephen Lee by the WPBSA, his match against Mark Allen will not now take place," the statement said.

"With just one match to be played - Neil Robertson v Stuart Bingham - it was felt that this did not represent sufficient value for money for the people of Penzance as well as the viewers watching on Sky Sports at home.

"This match will now be rescheduled for the Guildford Spectrum on Thursday, October 25.

"All ticket holders can now seek full refunds from their point of purchase.

"Matchroom Sport will use their best endeavours to make sure that the Premier League returns to Penzance in 2013."

The statement also said that all of Lee's Group B matches have been declared void, making Group B a four-player group.

Lee's manager Adam Quigley said last week that his client was "devastated" by the decision to suspend him and that the player denied any wrongdoing.
