Golf day planned in memory of Tami Brown

Steve Jordan, a close friend of Tami, who died in July from cancer, is putting on a charity golf day to raise £5,000 to help a charity set up in her name.

Tami’s Wish, an organisation set up by friends and family of Tami Brown, who passed away after suffering from cancer for eight years, is calling upon passionate golfers to support their cause.

The event, which will be held at Wrag Barn Golf Club in Highworth, will take place on Thursday, November 1 and will invite golfing enthusiasts from across the county to compete in a charity tournament to help raise money for Tami’s Wish and Yes to Life.

Tami’s Wish was initially created by Tami herself to raise funds to try alternative cancer treatments to extend her life and defy predicitons by doctors that she had just months to live after cancer returned in 2004 and 2010.

Yes to Life, the other charity that the golf day is fundraising for, offers support to people with cancer who want to take a proactive role in their treatment.

The event is being organised by keen fundraiser Steve, who has previously raised thousands for charities like the Prospect Hospice.

Steve said: “I was a close friend of Tami’s since I met her in 2001 and while she was going through her treatment we held a couple of events. We were all devastated when she died and her friends and family want to try and raise as much as we can in her memory.

“We were sitting around in the pub trying to come up with ideas and I thought I could do a golf day, which can raise a lot if it’s done properly. I’ve held golf days before and so I know a bit about who to talk to and how to get the right people involved.

“We are on track for 14 teams but we would love to make that up to 20 and get some big businesses sponsoring holes.”
