Funded IT courses available (From This Is Wiltshire)

Wiltshire College ispleased to announce the latest set of funding available for IT courses for the remainder of the year.

This new funding means that people who are currently unemployed or in receipt of benefit are able to complete a single unit of the nationally recognised ITQ qualification, or an entry Level 3 qualification for IT beginners, with opportunities to progress further on completion.

Debbie Rodrigues, 53, of Warminster, recently secured herself a full-time job as a result of gaining new IT skills on a funded Wiltshire College IT programme last year.

Debbie commented: “I’d been raising my children for the last 16 years and wanted to get back into the working world. “I completed the level 1 IT qualification last year and that certainly made the difference in getting my current administration role with Wiltshire Council. “Attending the Warmin-ster Centre gave me both the skills and the confidence to apply for jobs knowing that I had the IT skills that most employers ask for.”

Debbie is now looking into continuing her study with a level 2 IT qualification this year to further enhance her IT skills.

Adult enterprise manager Christopher Morgan said: “I am thrilled that we can now offer funded IT qualifications to those people who can really use these new skills to make a difference to their situation. Our funding for different projects changes throughout the year, so it is worth checking in regularly to see how you could benefit.”

So, if you want to brush up on your IT skills, get in touch and choose from word processing, spread sheets, internet/email or databases. Courses are available at Corsham, Devizes and Warminster Enterprise Centres and at the Salisbury main college building.
