£4,300 for cancer fund

Devizes mum Catherine Drage and her family have thanked the local community for helping her raise £4,300 for breast cancer charities in memory of her sister-in-law.

Wendy Drage died of breast cancer nine years ago, aged 33, and Mrs Drage has been organising fundraising events since.

In the latest event, at police headquarters in Devizes on September 29, she thought the final tally was £3,500, but it has now gone up to £4,301.

About 115 people danced to music by Secondhand, who had donated their services, and enjoyed a buffet, supplied by local firms and individuals.

In a letter to the Gazette, she said: “I would just like to say a very big thank you to all who donated to the evening in different ways to made it such a success and help to raise £4,301.”
