A flower festival at St Mary’s Church in Steeple Ashton has raised hundreds of pounds for charity.
During last weekend’s festival – staged to bring in money for the church’s nominated charity, Water Aid – flowers from the St Mary’s Church committee were displayed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
About £280 was collected from visitors in donations.
Joan Campbell, the chairman of the church’s flowers committee, said: “It went very well. “The girls pulled out all the stops and the church looked really tremendous.
“We’re going to keep the flowers going, because this weekend the bishop is rededicating the organ.”
“We have done festivals before, but it’s six years since we did one. “We thought, why not turn it into a fundraiser as we’re raising money for Water Aid.”
