Young footballers have the chance to play at Swindon Town's ground (From This Is Wiltshire)

Young footballers from across Wiltshire have the chance to to play at Swindon Town's ground in front of thousands of fans, as part of the ‘Lets Kick Racism Out of Football’ campaign.

League One club Swindon Town and Wiltshire Council will offer a series of tournaments in Chippenham, Devizes, Salisbury and Trowbridge during October half term for young people aged 15 and 16.

Two teams from each tournament will then go forward to a county final which takes places at Stanley Park Sports Ground in Chippenham on November 3, before the final two teams compete in the ‘Kick it Out’ final at half time at the County Ground during Swindon Town’s fixture with Sheffield United on November 6.

Kick it Out uses football as a tool to challenge discrimination, but has come under fire recently with several high-profile footballers refusing to wear the campaign's T-shirts in this weekend's games.

Cllr Jerry Kunkler, portfolio holder for leisure said: "This is a great opportunity for young people from Wiltshire to show their support for a national campaign while taking part in sport.

"The opportunity to play at a professional football ground is one not to be missed and playing under floodlights in front of a capacity crowd will be a once in a lifetime experience."

Places are limited to 10 teams in each local tournament. Team spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
