TELEVISION star Tony Robinson will be speaking in Swindon next week.

The Time Team presenter and Blackadder actor will be appearing at a conference called Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, which is organised by the Care Skills Partnership.

It takes place on Thursday next week at the Oakfield Campus of the University of Bath in Marlowe Avenue, and is aimed at managers in the private, voluntary and independent adult care sector who provide services to elderly and disabled people.

Mr Robinson, will be sharing his experiences of caring for his elderly mother who had dementia and lived in a care home, which was recently highlighted in the Channel 4 documentary Me and My Mum.

The day will include workshops and talks from speakers including Graham Pearson, director of adult social care at Swindon Council and Jo Osorio, director at Age Concern Swindon.

Marinos Paphitis, area director at the Learning and Skills Council will be chairing the conference, and said: "I would really like to encourage those who are involved in the safekeeping of vulnerable adults to attend this fantastic conference."
