Dads in paint attack
FIGHTING FOR RIGHTS: Fathers 4 Justice campaigners
FIGHTING FOR RIGHTS: Fathers 4 Justice campaigners

THE campaign group Fathers 4 Justice attacked the home of family court judge Sir Matthew Thorpe in Seend High Street on Sunday night.

Purple paint was daubed over the front steps and door and similarly coloured putty was smeared on the front door lock.

The attack follows a protest in October when about 15 protesters marched through the village with single father Mark Harris.

The protesters presented a wheelbarrow full of legal papers from Mr Harris' struggle to gain access to his children.

After failing to find Sir Matthew at home, Mr Harris told waiting supporters and journalists: "Sir Matthew is not at home today, but I hope we'll catch him another time."

A statement from Fathers 4 Justice said: "Last night (Sunday) militant fringe members visited the homes of two family court judges as part of the Judgebuster Campaign. Purple, the international colour of equality, was used."

The group also attacked the home of Judge Nick Wilson in Sutherland Place, London.

The Fathers 4 Justice statement said that the action was in support of Charles Taylor, a 71-year-old grandfather from Poole, Dorset who was jailed for 20 months for staying in contact with his grandchild who is in care.

The statement added: "Family Court secrecy has been used to conceal information that the Government, social workers and other public officials are too embarrassed to have the press report.

"It also clearly identifies the gagging of the press and the clandestine restrictions on the freedom of speech."

Inspector Dean Knight at Devizes police station confirmed an attack took place at an address in Seend between 9.30pm on Sunday and 8am Monday. He appealed for witnesses to contact the police on 0845 408 7000.

The family court proceedings MUST be opened up, or else these kinds of manifestations of frustration wont go away. Too many career judges, social workers and liberal lefties are on a gravy train keeping Dads (and Grandads) away from their own children.

Walter - I understand the frustration these guys feel, but I don't understand your comment

- how does this make them money? - genuine question.

'leberal lefties'? How do they benefit from this gravy train? I'd be fascinated to hear. As a LL myself, I feel I'm missing out. Where's my share?

Come on Walter, explain your "gravy train" comment. i think we'd all like to know it works.

Don's quite correct - It's incorrect to confuse the buffoons in charge at the moment with the real Liberals (not that I am either).

However, why didn't F4J contact Matty direct?

I'm sure he'd love nothing more than a good chat.

I'm just surprised that this sort of escallation against these appalling family court judges has n't happened before. They have all ignored the humourous Batman, Santa stunts for years, perhaps this will be viewed as a wake up call for this lot, who knows.

I think what Walter meant by the gravy train is the huge cost of divorced parents in court fighting over the kids feeds the army of Solicitors, Barristers, Child Psychiatrists, etc employed by the family courts in such cases.

If fathers had the automatic right to see their kids-enforced by the likes of Thorpe and his mates-the divorce industry would shrink into obivion.

I've read that book FAMILY COURT HELL by the October Seend protest leader Mark Harris. His access case cost the taxpayer over one million pounds during his 10 year battle to see his kids. Thorpe called his case 'a simple contact dispute'.

The kids eventually took the law into their own hands and ran away to their Dad-then the case was resolved. Why could n't the courts sort this out in the 133 hearings that took place? Because the divorce industry survives on such cases!

Thank you Trowbridge Terry, I now understand.

seems my mother was right, I should have been a lawyer; but there again I'm not and so I can sleep soundly at night.

"dads cant see kids, but mum's new fella can, why?" It says on the banner in the pic....
What if the father is a total waste of space and doesn't make an effort to see his kids. Regardless of how much the mother tries to keep the relationship between them.
If it wasn't for my "new fella" my daughter wouldn't have half as much as she does, there are always too sides to every story.
