STARS from TV talent show The X Factor topped the bill as thousands of people descended on Bowood on Sunday for the annual Crimestoppers Family Fun Day.

Former goatherder Chico and Journey South were among the line-up, along with chart-topping band The Honeyz and tribute band Scissorsisterz. In addition to the music, the 6th annual fun day featured quad biking, go karting, falconry displays and fairground rides.

An estimated twice as many tickets were sold compared to last year.

Chico, whose debut song It's Chico Time stormed to number one, said he was delighted to be back on stage in Wiltshire, having previously performed at Chicago Rock Cafe in Trowbridge.

He said: "What an amazing venue, amazing crowd and wonderful event. What time is it? It's Crime Stopping time.

"Amazing, amazing, amazing. I want to come back to Wiltshire, I just love the people here - such a wonderful audience."

Brothers Jacob and Lewis Fox, from Chippenham, got the chance to meet Chico after winning a competition with GWR Wiltshire.

Journey South - brothers Andy and Carl - said they were delighted to be in the county.

They said: "It is the first time we have been to Wiltshire and it is such a stunning location. We are so happy to support Crimestoppers and everything they do in the community.

"What a fantastic crowd, we are so happy to have come today, we really wanted to play on. The past year has been like a dream and performing at these type of events is what we enjoy most."

The brothers, who have released their debut album, performed two new tracks they are including in their upcoming tour, which starts later this month.

Those in the audience revelled in the party atmosphere.

Steven Craig, 42, from Warminster said his children had been looking forward to seeing Chico. Michael Gray, 46, from Trowbridge also said his children enjoyed the day out.

"It is so much better than last year," he said. "Everyone is so helpful and relaxed and my kids are having a ball and all for a good cause."

His sentiments were echoed by 11-year-old Carly Stevens, from Trowbridge, who said: "I am having an amazing day. I love it here and I will definitely get mum to bring me next year."
