RUGBY: Wootton Bassett 0 Trowbridge 17

TROWBRIDGE stretched their winning run in the league to four games as they recorded a narrow victory over their Wiltshire rivals.

In a game of contrasting halves, both sides kicked away possession and, with the packs well matched, each missed kickable penalty shots.

Trowbridge scrum-half Kyle Knight was sin-binned towards the end of the first half, but it remained scoreless.

The 14-man visitors took an early second-half lead when Lloyd Davis booted a penalty and stretched it when Dave Martin crashed through a ruck, Davis adding teh conversion.

Bassett responded with a number of attacks, but the defence held firm and the hosts were reduced to 14 when Grant Murdoch was yellow-carded.

Trowbridge increased their lead through another rolling maul with Sam Edwards touching down and Davis converted.
