MAKESHIFT Benger showed great determination to hold off a strong Old Boys side in a Dorset & Wilts Two North game marred by an injury to one of College’s players.

Benger started the game in frantic fashion and Matt Watchman stroked over an opening penalty.

The pressure was maintained and the first try followed as they mauled deep into their opponents’ 22 and scrum-half Watchman sold a dummy to go over and add the conversion.

Two further penalties by Watchman gave Benger a comfortable advantage, College going over for a converted try before the break.

An injury just before half time saw 30 minutes lost while the player was given medical attention, leading to half time being called early and a 35-minute second half played.

Benger again started the brighter, spinning the ball out wide for John Green to cross in the corner.

College added a second try before the end.
