HEAD coach Jason Forster has urged his Chippenham squad to aim high in the second half of their National Three South West campaign.
Forster’s men relaunched their league season after the festive break with a seven-try dismissal of Oxford Harlequins 44-14 at Allington Field on Saturday.
An eighth win of the season cemented their position in the top half of the table but while worries about becoming embroiled in a relegation fight have surely been banished, former Wales international Forster is determined his side won’t take their foot off the gas.
The likes of London Irish Wild Geese and Exmouth at the top of the table are almost certainly out of reach, but Forster said: “My challenge to the players would be that we need to be consistent and honest with ourselves.
“Let’s see how far we can go up the table (they are sixth) before the end of the season. Can we go fifth or fourth?’’ With the club still remaining wholly amateur in a division where some clubs financially reward players, Forster is delighted that his squad have made an impact.
“It’s about the pride, commitment and passion we have in the shirt,’’ added Forster, whose side go to fifth-placed Redingensians on Saturday.
“They have nothing to fear because they have run top sides in the league really close this season.
“I’ve been really proud of the boys to be honest. It’s a big pat on the back for them.’’
