BLUEBIRDS striker Alan Griffin reckons that a draw was a fair result as his Chippenham Town side were held by Gosport Borough yesterday.

Nathan Rudge's side are the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division's draw specialists after they notched up a fifth successive stalemate as yesterday's encounter at Hardenhuish Park ended goalless.

Griffin felt that his team didn't do enough to take all three points against Borough but still thinks that his team shouldn't be disappointed with their efforts through the difficult winter period.

“We've had a few games like that in a row and if you look at the pitch, it's a bit of a trial but they've been doing well to get the games on with the weather we've had,” said the Chippenham striker.

!I think that at times in the first half, we played some good football but in the second half, I felt like we didn't really got going.

“I think that we maybe didn't put enough pressure on but it was hard to get hold of the ball – I think that a draw was probably a fair result.

“It's another draw but hopefully we can kick on and try and nick a win at Cambridge on Tuesday.”

Saturday's clash saw the Bluebirds keep a clean sheet for the second game in a row and manager Rudge will be hoping his side can repeat that trick when they make the lengthy trip to Cambridge City next Tuesday evening.

Chippenham triumphed 4-3 in a thrilling encounter when the two sides met at Hardenhuish Park at the beginning of the season but since then, City have climbed up the table and currently sit comfortably in the play-off positions.

Cambridge were beaten 1-0 at Barwell yesterday.
