RUGBY: Pewsey Vale 64 Devizes 2nd 13

PEWSEY returned to winning ways, fly-half James Haynes scoring five tries and kicking a further 14 points.

Devizes were under pressure from the start, Pewsey’s lighter pack taking the first scrum against the head and after 15 minutes, tighthead prop Pete Drew stormed over.

Devizes hit back with a Matty Holloran penalty as Pewsey skipper Olly Spencer was sin-binned for pulling down a maul but two tries in five minutes, from Haynes and Roko Rokowai, both converted, put Vale back on top.

Another Devizes penalty was followed by Haynes’ second try, lock Tom Baish touching down just before half time for a converted effort.

Determined Devizes were rewarded with a converted try from Holloran just after half time before Vale’s Mike Breakspear was sin-binned for handling in a ruck.

Five Pewsey tries rounded off affairs in the final 20 minutes, hooker Jeremy Horton, Haynes with three more and Rokowai again, Haynes converting them all.
