ANGLING: Robinson claims House honours

THERE was a close finish to the Ivy House Saturday Open match as Terry Robinson, of Ivy House, stole top prize with a carp and silvers catch weighing 61 lb 6 oz.
John Williams, of Ivy House, pushed him all the way to take runner up spot with 60 lb f carp and silvers, followed by Val Murray, of Royal Wootton Bassett, wit 32 lb 8 oz and Mick Gale, from Chippenham, in fourth with 27 lb 4 oz. The silvers prize went to Joe Thompson, of Ivy House, with a weight of 15 lb 8 oz.
GALE went better in the Sunday Open at Ivy House to take the honours with a carp and silvers catch weighing 62 lb 6 oz.
Dick Young, of Ivy House, took runner up prize with 35 lb 2 oz of carp and silvers with Andy Lord, of Ivy House, third with 24 lb 7 oz of carp and silvers, the 10 lb 4 oz of silvers taking that award.
SUNDAY'S Airsprung match on the Bristol Avon at Barton Farm saw Richard Whitmarsh, from Frome, taking a mixed catch of bream and roach weighing 17 lb 2 oz for top prize.
Vic Bush, from Bradford, took runner up prize with 12 lb of bream, followed by Mike Clark, of Tisbury, with 5lb of roach and bleak.
Other placings: 4. Alan Hillier Westbury 4 lb 4 oz; 5. Brian Trim Tisbury 3 lb 12 oz; 6. Colin Gittings Chippenham 3 lb 6 oz.
F1’s (a cross between crucian and common carp) and carp prevailed in Sunday's Wilts Angling Open match at Todber Manor.
Kevin Abigail, from Westbury, carried off top prize with 69 lb 4 oz of F1s to finish ahead of Rob Kepner, from Melksham, with 62 lb of carp and F1s.
Nathaniel Johnson, from Melksham, clinched third 55 lb of carp.
Other placings: 4. Dave Bancroft Trowbridge 54 lb 4 oz; 5. Terry Niblett Gillingham & Nick White Gillingham 47 lb 12 oz each.
