HOCKEY: Swindon women edged out by Cheltenham

FAMILIAR faces came back to haunt Swindon women as they went down 4-1 away at Cheltenham 2nds.
When the two sides met earlier in the season Cheltenham took the spoils with a 7-6 victory, and although Swindon knew the dangerous home attackers would give them a tough afternoon they were quickly caught out by the pace of the Gloucestershire side as they took an early lead.
A second goal quickly followed despite a number of good attacking opportunities for Swindon, and they got their reward after the break as Beth George and Adriana Boulousa won a short corner which the latter fired home to make it 2-1.
It looked as if Swindon were going to take something from the match, but two sin-binnings in quick succession forced them to sit back and see-out the Cheltenham pressure.
With 11 players back on the pitch, a clever ball by Cheltenham meant that they had a one-on-one opportunity with Swindon keeper Sarah Annstey, and although she did a good job of forcing the player wide she was beaten at her near post.
A final goal from a late short corner made it 4-1 to Cheltenham.
Elsewhere, Swindon Ladies 2nds drew 1-1 with Devizes 2nds with Nicola Wylie scoring the Swindon goal.
