CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Chippenham hit by late postponement

CHIPPENHAM Town were left frustrated by the weather earlier today as their clash with Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division league leaders Leamington was called off 15 minutes before kick-off.

There had been no need for a pitch inspection at Hardenhuish Park this morning but heavy downpours of rain left the Chippenham surface with pools of standing water.

Members of both the Bluebirds and Leamington management teams were in constant discussion with the match officials but with both sets of players on their way in to their respective dressing rooms, the referee deemed the pitch unplayable.

Left-back Jack Allward, who has signed for the Bluebirds from Paulton Rovers, was named on the bench this afternoon and will now have to wait until next weekend's trip to AFC Totton to make his debut.

Just three fixtures in Chippenham's league got underway today, with majority falling foul of the elements.
