Webb concerned after washout

Supermarine boss Dave Webb
DAVE Webb admits his concerns have only increased after Supermarine’s home clash with Division One South & West leaders Poole was called off.
Wet weather meant the Webb’s Wood Stadium pitch was unplayable and Marine must wait until a week tomorrow to face their title rivals.
Only two games went ahead in the entire division with one of those seeing second-placed Hungerford cruise to a 3-0 win over Sholing.
Marine now have six games in hand over Hungerford and must make up a gap of nine points if they are to finish second.
“It was really disappointing not to play Poole, it was obviously a very important game for both sides,” said Webb.
“It’s another game we’ve got to try and fit in before the end of April and if the weather doesn’t improve then we could have a problem on Tuesday (when Marine are scheduled to visit North Leigh).
“The biggest thing is we were starting to catch Hungerford and they played and got three points on Saturday. They will be the side that’s most pleased.
“It’s going to become really difficult for us because we’re going to have so many games in such a short space of time, it might go in our favour but undoubtedly players are going to get tired.
“It will be tough but we’ve just got to deal with it.”
Cirencester had no game scheduled on Saturday while in the Southern Premier, Chippenham’s home clash with Leamington was called off 15 minutes before kick-off.
The pitch was playable in the morning but heavy rain in the afternoon left pools of standing water on the surface.
That means new signing Jack Allward will have to wait until at least Saturday to make his debut for the Bluebirds, having signed from Paulton.
The 25-year-old left-back arrived at Hardenhuish Park to fill the void left by veteran Jim Rollo, who has re-joined Bath City.
Allward has made 26 appearances for Paulton so far this season and has also had spells at Mangotsfield United and Halesowen.
Meanwhile, the Hellenic League programme was a complete washout for our local sides at the weekend.
Shrivenham and Highworth were unable to improve their chances of survival in the Hellenic Premier as their games against Abingdon and Oxford City Nomads were off.
In Division One West, Purton, Cricklade, Malmesbury and Lambourn were all left without a game, while Fairford did not play their Supplementary Cup third-round clash with Carterton.
