GOATACRE 3rd’s Division Six meeting with Highworth lasted the equivalent of ten overs as the villagers obliterated their rivals’ batting in astonishing fashion.
Bottom side Highworth were all out for just 11 in 8.4 overs as Dan Wiseman’s 4-1 off just four overs helped do the damage.
Goatacre then needed just eight balls to go past their measly target for the loss of one wicket.
But Purton 2nd are 21 points clear with just one match left after they beat Biddestone 4th by 148 runs.
Purton totalled 256-2 from 36 overs, Dave Allen scoring a superb 167 and Chris Newman unbeaten on 63.
Biddestone were 108 all out in reply, Joe Dunn taking 4-24.
Spye Park’s end-of-season revival continued as they made it back-to-back wins with a 31-run success over Malmesbury.
In the top flight’s only fixture to finish Park, who are almost certainly relegated, scored 171 as openers Paul Fennell and Jon Anstee De Mas hit 54 and 45 respectively, Jack Ward taking 5-28, including three victims in one over.
Their bowlers then got to work as Malmesbury were dismissed for 140, despite James Gillsepie’s 57.
There were three wickets each for Dave Beal (3-33) and Peter Ellis (3-23), while Jon Beal took 2-22. The champagne is on ice for seven more days at Purton, their first string 45 points clear of second-placed Wootton Bassett following a host of weekend abandonments, with just 50 points left to play for this term.
Box claimed the Division Two title as their clash with Beckington was abandoned, with Beckington at 64-4.
Jordan Welsby took 7-18 from just 6.1 overs as Westinghouse destroyed Warminster 3rd’s batting line-up for just 28 before coasting to victory.
In Division Four, unbeaten knocks of 24 from Ben Willoughby and 32 from Mark Crone guided Lambourne to a nine-wicket victory over Trowbridge A, who were all out for 85 as Dan Hawkins took 4-31.
Box are on the verge of a double title triumph as their second team moved clear at the top of Division Seven after a comfortable 154-run win over Marshfield 3rd.
Steve Hall hit 94 and Chris Jenkins 31 in their side’s 217-9 declared and Marshfield struggled to just 63 all out as Dan Pettit took 3-4 in 5.4 overs, Kevin Dolman (1-7), Gavin Richardson (2-26) also doing the damage.
Marlborough took advantage of the abandonment of games involving Goatacre 4th and Wanborough 2nd to take a one-point lead in the three-way battle at the top of Division Eight.
Their eight-wicket win over Calne 3rd came as Calne reached 137-8 off 45 overs, Dale Goss hitting 59.
Marlborough reached a rain-reduced target as Andy Crabbe scored an unbeaten 44
