LAMBOURN Sports’ return to the North Berks League began in disappointing fashion as they were hammered 6-1 by Wootton and Dry Sandford in Division One.
Sports, back in the league after two seasons in the Hellenic, were well-beaten although Scott Southby did manage a consolation.
On the scoresheet for Wootton were Andy Chilvers (3), Ben Taylor, Tom Nicholls and Yurlan Deniev.
Faringdon and Kintbury played out a 2-2 draw with Dan Martin and Paul Hulme on the scoresheet for Faringdon, while Adam Drake and Jake Shearsby netted for Kintbury.
Promoted Faringdon reserves were sunk 3-1 by Wantage A in Division Two as Bill MacDonald, Tobias Daley and Liam McCullough did the damage.
Lee Ruddle registered for Faringdon reserves.
