SWINDON ROBINS: Poole boss expects Swindon to beat Lakeside
POOLE promoter Matt Ford has insisted Swindon Robins are ‘far too good’ to even think about intentionally dropping points against Lakeside on Monday.
Swindon captain Andersen suggested in Monday’s Advertiser the Robins could consider their options ahead of Monday’s meeting with the Hammers depending on who they wanted to face in the play-offs, but team manager Alun Rossiter was quick to insist his side would be doing everything they can to win.
If Poole can win at Belle Vue on Monday the Hammers will need to pick up something at Blunsdon the same evening to keep hold of fourth place and secure a spot in the play-offs, and Wimborne Road chief Ford is certain the Robins will be doing their best to win.
“I take on board what Hans has said and I don’t want people to read too much into that,” he told the Daily Echo.
“Peter Kildemand and Troy Batchelor are two incredible riders that anybody would wish to work with.
“Kyle Howarth is going out with Neil Middleditch’s daughter. A number of the Swindon riders have an association with Poole.
“Would Swindon be better off facing Lakeside than Poole? Potentially, yes they would. But I don’t think for one second that when a guy puts on helmet and has a chance of earning money – and it is the only way that he is paid – that he will be doing anything other than trying to win.
“Hans and I have been very close over the years and I know he will do his utmost to win a race.
“Swindon are far too good for that and they have a great track record and a tremendous history.
“They will do everything they can to win a speedway meeting, just as they do every other time.”
Meanwhile, Robins sponsors Excalibur and Pebley Beach are set to offer adult fans the chance to attend Monday’s meeting with Lakeside for the discounted price of £10.
A voucher will be printed inside Monday’s edition of Tapes-Up and to take advantage of the offer simply cut it out and present it on entry to the stadium on Monday.
Children aged 11-16 cost £5 while under 11s are free.
