Swindon Wildcats make it three in a row
SWINDON Wildcats made it three wins from three challenge games courtesy of a double victory over Telford at the weekend.
Ryan Aldridge’s men triumphed 6-3 at the Link Centre on Saturday and won 3-2 in Shropshire last night.
Summer recruit Sam Smith gave Swindon an early lead at 2.47 yesterday evening, but Marek Mikusovic levelled on the powerplay at 28.52.
However, goals from Swedish import Jonas Hoog at 52.05 and 56.17 did the damage late on.
Callum Bowley scored with a second remaining for the hosts, but Wildcats already had victory in the bag.
On Saturday, a Loris Taylor first-period hat-trick inspired Wildcats to a 6-3 victory.
Hoog opened the scoring (2.34) before head coach Aldridge got the better of James Smith after the pair dropped the gloves.
Smith made it 2-0 on the powerplay (7.39) and Taylor grabbed the first of his treble at 11.11.
Miika Kiviranta pulled one back (11.38), only for Taylor to extend the advantage to 4-1 at 12.49.
The forward completed his hat-trick at 19.00 but 18 seconds later Telford pulled it back to 4-2 through Mikusovic.
Sam Bullas pummelled Bryn Roberts at the start of period two befire the visitos reduced the deficit to one (37.44).
But Hoog finished the evening where he started it with a goal at 47.31, assisted by Bullas.
