KLM OPEN: Triple bogey woe for Broome Manor pro
SWINDON'S David Howell saw his KLM Open title challenge derail in spectacular fashion as he carded a four-over-par 74 at Kennemer Golf & Country Club today.
It could have been much worse for the Broome Manor pro, who was eight-over through 11 holes following a disastrous run that included triple bogeys at the fifth and 10th.
The 38-year-old rallied superbly with gains at four of the last five holes but that was only enough to pull him back to one-under overall and tied-34th at the time of writing.
Today's effort will be a huge disappointment to Howell given that he joint-led for a sizeable proportion of the first day and was on the brink of the top 10 following yesterday's second round.
The ex-world number nine will hope that he can perform better in his final circuit of the Netherlands course tomorrow.
