PORTUGAL MASTERS: Eagle aids Howell's leaderboard climb
DAVID Howell is set to comfortably make the cut at the Portugal Masters after shooting a chequered second round today.
Teeing off at the 10th at Oceanico Victoria, the Swindonian carded a three-under-par round of 68 which included an eagle three at the par-five fifth, taking him to five-under for the tournament.
The Broome Manor pro, who won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship nearly a fortnight ago, is tied-25th and seven off the lead at the time of writing.
Howell was two-under through six holes and one-under through nine, but dropped in a number of bogeys and birdies after the turn.
But the 38-year-old’s eagle revitalised his round and moved him well clear of the cut line.
