CHIPPENHAM TOWN: Bluebirds return is perfect fit for Ross
DEFENDER Ross Adams is looking forward to getting reacquainted with Chippenham Town after returning to Hardenhuish Park on loan late last week.
The former Bluebirds’ captain, 30, signed on a month’s loan from Basingstoke Town last Friday and was chucked in at the deep end a day later as he started in the 3-0 defeat to title-chasers Chesham.
Adams joined Conference South Basingstoke from the Bluebirds in 2010 and, after a host of injury problems, the central defender says he he was happy to re-join in a bid to regain full fitness.
“It all came a bit out of the blue – I wasn’t really expecting to be going out on loan but Chippenham’s a good club and I thought that it was definitely the right place to go and get some games under my belt,” said Adams.
“Wints (Steve Winter) asked Griff (Alan Griffin) to see if I’d be interested in coming back and eventually Wints and my manager at Basingstoke (Jason Bristow) got talking about it. But I didn’t have the chance to train or anything before Saturday because I only signed the paperwork on Friday afternoon.
“It seems like things have changed a bit since I left and there’s only Griff, Harvs (Iain Harvey) and Tinds (Greg Tindle) who are still there from before but the boys seem like a good group of lads and I’m looking forward to getting to know them.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Basingstoke but I’ve had quite a few bad injuries so it’s all about getting back fit while I’m here.”
