SWINDON WILDCATS: Loris joins Wightlink on two-way deal
SWINDON Wildcats forward Loris Taylor has joined Wightlink Raiders on a two-way deal for the remainder of the season.
The 20-year-old has had limited ice time in a red-and-white jersey in 2013/14 and has switched to the NIHL South Division 1 side in order to get minutes under his belt.
Swindon head coach Ryan Aldridge has been unhappy with certain individual performances so far this term and Taylor has not met the standard the head coach was looking for.
Aldridge has twice told the Advertiser in the last fortnight of the need for changes and he is expected to bring in new blood soon.
Taylor did not feature in Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Slough, with Aldridge stating afterwards that tonsillitis was the cause of his non-involvement.
Now the youngster is hoping to return to full fitness and top form at the Isle of Wight club.
“I’ve got to the stage where I need to be playing more in order to improve my game,” said Taylor.
“I need to be getting quality ice time and I think that the Raiders will provide me with just that.
“The move is the perfect way for me to show what I can do so maybe next year, I will be able to do it here for Swindon.”
Taylor will continue to train with the Wildcats on Tuesday evenings and will be available when the Raiders do not have a fixture.
He is set to make his debut for Wightlink on Sunday when they travel to Chelmsford Chieftains.
Wightlink head coach Jeremy Cornish has every confidence in Taylor's abilities and he told the club's official website: “We are very excited to add Loris to the squad, he gives us another top line player at this level and he is excited for the increase in ice time and responsibility he will receive with us.
“We have been looking to improve the squad since the start of the year and when Loris became available we jumped at the opportunity to get him signed up."
