All of the talk will be about who's in the running for the Chippenham job but don't forget that today's result means that the Bluebirds travel to Redditch United in the Calor League Premier Division next Monday night
So the managerless Bluebirds' FA Trophy run comes to an end on the South Coast.
Chippenham were left feeling aggrieved by an alleged handball as the hosts netted their opener and the alleged dive that led to Bognor's second-half penalty but the damage was done as the home side netted a quickfire double midway through the first period to gain a stranglehold on the tie.
However, there are plenty of positives to take out of their second half performance and with a bit more luck, they could have found a way back into the game.

Phillips goes close to grabbing a goal for the Bluebirds. The striker control's McClennan's cross on his chest before going for the top corner with an acrobatic effort but Zawadski plucks the ball out of the air
SUBSTITUTION: Joe Tumelty comes on for Iain Harvey
Again, it's harsh on Chippenham, who have shown a lot of fight in this second period, but that should kill off any chance of a fightback.
Eight minutes of normal time remaining at Nyewood Lane
Griffin leaves a leg hanging in the box and Bognor's Hopkinson goes down, with referee Bull pointing straight to the spot.
There's all sorts of pushing and shoving as the Bluebirds accuse the winger of diving but the decision remains the same.
Dodd eventually takes the kick, and smashes home to grab his hat-trick

PENALTY TO BOGNOR REGIS TOWN
15 minutes to go at Bognor and it's still 3-1 to the home side despite this spirited fightback from the visitors
Phillips is booked for asking a question of the referee! Bognor's Dodd continues to shove John as he takes a goal but it's the Bluebirds striker who is penalised
That's so unfortunate for the Bluebirds, who have been much the better side in this second half
DISALLOWED GOAL for Chippenham!
Griffin plays a ball back across the area and Purnell takes a touch before driving past his marker and unleashing a strike.
The effort beats the Bognor keeper and finds its way into the net but the linesman's flag is up for an offside blue shirt interfering with play!
SO CLOSE to another Chippenham goal.
The Bluebirds win the ball back in midfield and McClennan slots Guthrie in on goal but the winger is denied by Zawadski's close-range save
McClennan plays a one-two with Guthrie from a corner and whips a cross to the far post but Griffin's header is again held by the Bognor keeper. It's the Bluebirds on the front foot but they still trail 3-1
Bognor pump in a corner, that's cleared by Phillips, but full-back Crane has a scooped pot-shot that looks like it might find its way into the net before Ben John gathers.
At the other end, Phillips has a header held by Zawadski
There's a few handbags after Bognor substitute Arron Hopkinson goes down under the attentions of Guthrie - who shouts in his opposite number's face to accuse him of diving.
@gazsport thats more like it!— @GeorgeAlty 02 November 2013
But at the other end, Shane Blackmore has to acrobatically clear to prevent Dodd having the goal at his mercy before Pearce's strike is charged down
Now McClennan drives into the box and flashes a dangerous cross into the six-yard box but there's no-one there to convert
Phillips' cross is turned behind by a Bognor defender. The Bluebirds have the bit between their teeth
That's a bit more like it from Chippenham. Tom Knighton makes an instant impact.
Phillips' great header sends Guthrie racing down the left flank and winger pings a superb cross to the back post, with the unmarked Knighton powering home a header

The Bluebirds have started the second period with a bit more purpose about them - but can they turn this momentum into a goal or two?

Second half underway
SUBSTITUTION: Tom Knighton comes on for Jefferies at half-time as the Bluebirds go 4-4-2
@gazsport we were never going to win this one. We really are in the doo-doo.— @GeorgeAlty 02 November 2013
There's much furrowing of brows and much shaking of heads as the Bluebirds trudge back in to the dressing room.
The managerless visitors started brightly, with Joe McClennan and Darren Jefferies providing a few bright sparks for the managerless Bluebirds.
But all of a sudden, Bognor netted a controversial opener, and then raced into a 3-0 lead.
Chippenham are heading out of a Trophy - unless they can conjour up a monumental fightback in the second period

So close to a goal back for Chippenham! Jefferies jinks past his marker and flashes a devilish ball across the face of goal but Lee Phillips just can't connect with his diving header

This looks bad for the Bluebirds. Griffin slides in to a challenge and looks to have come off worse, staying down and clutching his knee
Bognor go close again. Full-back James Crane sets up Ben Johnson, who floats a ball onto the head of Dodd at the far post but the striker's effort is wide
James Guthrie is booked for dissent
Chippenham will be wondering just how they find themselves three goals down.
Bognor stepped up a gear and are suddenly well in control. There are overbearing shades of a certain midweek defeat already and the Bluebirds need to dig deep quickly if they're to get anything out of this game.
We've been here before...
Bognor snatch a stanglehold on the game with a second goal in a matter of minutes. Dodd gets in again and side-foots home from just inside the area to net his side's third

But it goes from bad to worse for Chippenham. A ball over the top isn't dealt with by the Bluebirds centre-halves and Terry Dodd gets in before deftly lobbing the ball over Ben John and into the net to make it 2-0

Harley Purnell has a whack from range but his shot fails to test keeper Mark Zawdaski
A host of Bluebirds players were incensed by that Bognor opener but the referee and his assistant were unmoved as the protests went on.
A big setback after a positive start for Chippenham - can they respond?
But Bognor take the lead! Ollie Pearce plays in Craig Robson, whose shot is parried by Ben John but striker Pearce is on hand to bundle the ball over the line.
Chippenham are up in arms, claiming the Bognor man hand-balled over the line but referee William Bull lets the goal stand

Jefferies wins the ball in midfield and drives forward before going for ball but that effort is well off-target.
Still, it's some early encouragement for the Bluebirds
From the resulting corner, Guthrie and Jefferies set up McClennan but he blazes his shot over

Chippenham are already in the (open air) tunnel
Decent sized crowd at Nyewood Lane for today's clash. Just five minutes to go until kick off
So it looks as though Chippenham will line up in a 4-5-1 this afternoon.
As an aside, the playing surface here at Bognor looks absolutely fantastic, especially after this afternoon's earlier heavy downpours.

Bognor, also known as the Rocks, have won two and lost two of their last five matches, suffering their own league disappointment last week as lost 3-0 at Wingate & Finchley.
Chippenham booked their place in the second qualifying round with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Chertsey Town at Hardenhuish Park last month whilst hosts Bognor Regis, who ply their trade in the Isthmian League Premier Division, beat Thurrock 2-1 at the first qualifying stage.

So this afternoon's teams are in nice and early and it looks as though Griffin will have to deputise in the heart of defence once again after Rodd Adams' loan spell expired.
Darren Jefferies starts in midfield again after making his Bluebirds debut in the worst possible conditions last Tuesday.
There's also no Dean Griffiths again. The striker has been playing for Toolstation League Odd Down and looks as though he's made a quick turnaround on his decision to return to Hardenhuish Park. Still awaiting official confirmation on that one though.

Since that humiliation at the hands of Stourbridge, manager Steve Winter had his holidays spoiled as he was relieved of his duties and defender Greg Tindle was suspended after his red card in last Tuesday's disaster.
Chippenham have turned to senior strikers Alan Griffin (pictured) and Lee Phillips to lead the team this afternoon, with U18s manager Nigel Tripp assisting from the dugout.
