MARLBOROUGH hold a four-point lead at the halfway point of the West Clubs League North Division after claiming a 4-1 success at Cheltenham CS.

After a difficult opening phase, the visitors opened the scoring on 20 minutes as the ball was passed around the D and Catherine Manley neatly fired home.

A second goal arrived just before half time as Helen Durrans intercepted on halfway and skipped passed two defenders before smashing the ball to Becki Marnane, who deftly deflected over the keeper’s foot into the net.

After 50 minutes, Marlborough stretched the play again and won a short corner.

A well-practised set-piece, saw Marnane pick out Rosie Curling at the far post who chipped the ball over the keeper.

The home side responded with a goal from a short corner but Marlborough were far from finished.

After a tussle in front of goal, Curling tucked the ball away to wrap up victory.

In the same division, Wootton Bassett were 3-2 winners over Leominster.

Chippenham claimed their third away win of the season with a 5-4 success at Cirencester in Premier Division 2A.
