SUPERMARINE coach Sean Millwaters knows his side have a golden opportunity to drag themselves back into the battle for top spot in Dorset & Wilts 1 North this weekend when they host Calne.

The South Marston side lost 12-11 to Bradford on Avon last time out and will be confident of victory against the team sitting second-bottom of the table tomorrow.

In addition, top two Minety and Chippenham 2nds go head-to-head and Millwaters knows victory for his side will see them leapfrog the losers of the battle at the summit.

“We have a really good opportunity at home against Calne, who have not had a good start to the season, and we really need to be looking at taking the bonus point from the game,” he said.

“Chippenham and Minety are playing each other and someone’s going to lose, or if they draw it will be an amazing result for us.

“For us, Minety winning will probably be better because they are behind Chippenham, but the most important thing is we need to go out there and win our game.”

Swindon play Devizes in South West 1 East as they look to build on their win away at Cheltenham last weekend.

Number eight Tom Mannion missed the contest for personal reasons but returns for the Wiltshire derby, and wants his side to sure up their defence as they bid to climb the league table.

“It was hard not playing last week and it was good to see the boys get the win, but it’s going to be hard for us this weekend because it’s a tough game,” he said.

“I can’t play the following weekend because I am away on holiday, so this is my last game of the year and I want to go out with a bang.

“I don’t really know much about them and have only played them once before in senior rugby, when they were a few leagues below us, but they have got promoted for this year and put a few decent results together.

“It will be no walk in the park that’s for sure, because if you look at the league table we are in the top three for points conceded. It’s all well and good us scoring tries but we need to improve on our defence too because we don’t want to be know as the team who concede a load of points.

“We have a good squad of players so we should be fine.”
